Marlette is a French brand created by two sisters, Margot and Scarlette, on the island of Ré, in the West of France. Repelled by industrial baking mixes of mediocre quality, they used to make their own pastry kits and offered them to their families at Christmas. In 2009, they decided to make baking a lot easier for everyone. The success is immediate.
Margot is an agri-food engineer, graduated from McGill University in Montreal. Passionate about sustainable development and healthy eating, she becomes at Marlette the specialist of raw materials. She unearths with the utmost care the best ingredients and continuously controls their qualities, with always this desire to respect the values that are dear to her heart, “the taste, the nutritive values, the origin and their mode of cultivation.”
A local and sustainable commitment:
Together, the two sisters carefully sourced the best organic ingredients to create the perfect sweet and savory mixes. The flours are selected among regional organic farms, and the grains are all natural and crushed between grinding stone wheels. Salt and fleur de sel come naturally from the island of Ré, and ingredients that cannot be found locally, such as certain spices, cane sugar or chocolate, come from sustainable sectors and Fair Trade. After selecting the best ingredients, they taste, assemble, taste again, until they find the perfect recipe that will allow us to cook the best cakes as easily as possible!
Marlette always adds unexpected ingredients, a “little twist,” that will make a traditional recipe a delight of flavors and originality. In a baking mix, you will find all the dry ingredients that make up the recipe: wheat flour, whole sugars, chocolate, oatmeal, all kinds of seeds and spices, salt, … They two sisters understand the importance of whole foods and prefer that consumers use fresh, organic eggs and milk when baking, rather than adding egg and milk powders to their mixes.

Marlette brought in Caleigh, a young American, to build their gluten-free mixes, a graduate of the Natural Gourmet Institute in New York City, a cooking school that teaches about whole foods and their effect on the body’s overall health and well-being. Herself gluten intolerant, she wants people to know that a life without gluten can be delicious. Marlette’s products are prepared in a certified organic and allergy/gluten free environment. These cake mixes, composed of various forgotten flours such as rice, buckwheat, corn, millet, tapioca, and arrowroot allow you to discover new flavors. Get ready to wake up your taste buds!
